Faculty lecture and choral concert by the Hollins University Concert Choir and Chamber Singers with Shelbie Wahl-Fouts, conductor. Music is interwoven with the fabric of our lives – the challenges, the struggles, the beauty, and the joy. Throughout history, women have been drawn together as a community to sing and share in the making of music as a group, in support of a larger social goal. Please join with the members of the Hollins University Choirs as we demonstrate songs of protest, peace, faith, sorrow, empowerment, equality, and hope. Featured during this concert will be the premiere of the new composition “Activist” by Hollins alumna Eileen O’Connor '12, with text by Hollins creative writing faculty Jeanne Larsen.
