This selection of works from the permanent collection is presented under a theme not necessarily intended by the artists. This small grouping presents an opportunity to think about some of the most common phobias including pyrophobia (fear of fire), acrophobia (fear of heights), and claustrophobia (fear of small spaces) – transferring the meaning/intent of the work of art, but also offering a chance for the viewer to redirect feelings towards an object. All-in-all, it is a chance to think about how we view artworks, how they speak to us, and what we in turn project onto them. In other words, we all bring our life experiences, including our “baggage” with us wherever we go - even when we look at art. Through September 4. Hours are Tuesday-Sunday 12-5 pm; Thursday 12-8 pm.
