Jody L. Allen is a visiting assistant professor at William and Mary and the cochair and managing director of The Lemon Project: A Journey of Reconciliation. Through her work on The Lemon Project, she is exploring the history of W&M's role as slaveholder and proponent of Jim Crow. Professor Allen is a native of Hampton, VA, and earned her doctorate in U.S. history at W&M. African American history is her area of specialization including Reconstruction, the Jim Crow Era, school desegregation, and women and gender. Black History Month event.
