What kinds of stories can a work of art tell? You can learn a lot about an artist and a work of art by asking these questions and other visual thinking strategies artists and art enthusiasts’ use. Campers will learn about the many ways art and artists use visual symbols and images to tell a story. Many artists include poetry and writing in their art, some create books and journals and still others leave the story up to the viewer to decipher by using visual clues and references. Paint, clay, pastels, and collage materials will combine to create campers personal stories inspired by memories, dreams, story book illustrations and the art in the galleries. Books, comics, sculptures, paintings and mixed media art will be created in this camp that combines a love of words and pictures.
