The 15th annual Pigg River Ramble Weekend event welcomes outdoor enthusiasts of all ages for three days of awesome paddling on Franklin County's Pigg and Blackwater Rivers. The popular event draws fans from across the region.The Pigg River Ramble Weekend begins with a Friday night float down the Blackwater River beginning at dark. The Blackwater Blackout is a 3 mile float that is challenging and fun as participants float from start to finish by “moonlight”. Festivities include music, food, shuttle service and paddling. The Saturday float is down the mighty Pigg River beginning at Waid Park and ending at Lynch Park. The Pigg River Ramble is an 8 mile float that is geared toward families who want to race or take a leisure float. Racers have an opportunity to win awards for their efforts. Festivities include food, awards ceremony, shuttle service and paddling. The Pigg River Rumble 5K Race the morning of the Pigg River Ramble. It will take place at Waid Park and make the weekend even more challenging. The Pigg River Ramble Weekend ends with a Sunday morning float down the Blackwater River in the daylight hours. The Breakfast on the Blackwater float begins with a mouth watering breakfast, provided by the Hub Restaurant, along the river bank prior to the 3 mile leisure float. This is a family event that includes food, shuttle service and paddling.
