4th Annual Floyd Mardi Gras Costume Ball
Floyd EcoVillage 188 Eco Village Trail, Floyd, Virginia
Floyd’s annual Mardi Gras Costume Ball is becoming quite the institution. Each year brings crazier costumes, better music, tastier food, and an increase in Floyd’s awesome party spirit.
This year should be no exception, with an all-star band featuring some of the region’s best musical taste and talent: Kerry Hurley from the Fat Daddy Blues Band, the Blue Ridge Blues Society and 101.5 The Music Place’s Blues With A Feeling; Kris Hodges—the man behind FloydFest; The Kind’s Tom Snediker; and Dylan Locke—formerly of Yams From Out Of Space and now the man who programs the Jefferson Center. With this line-up, you just know that the music alone is worth coming for.
But that’s by no means the only reason to come.
Oddfella’s Cantina are catering with specially themed cuisine. Blue Mountain Brewery are providing some of their finest beverages. The silent auction features some of Floyd’s finest goods and services. Floyd’s 2013 King and Queen are to be crowned. Prizes are being given.
But, best of all, the event launches the state-of-the-art facilities in the Floyd Eco Village’s Celebration Hall (www.floydecovillage.com). This custom-built venue features Floyd’s finest indoor stage, a sprung floor for even more exuberant dancing, and the best in-house sound system in the county.
This promises to be one very special party.
What makes the venue even more special is that this fundraiser for Floyd’s Blue Mountain School (www.bluemountainschool.net) is being held in the same building as the classrooms for the new high school that Blue Mountain School is developing. Students from the school will soon be helping to run this venue and many other facets of the Eco Village. And every single person in attendance is helping make that happen!
This is one very, very special party!
