Ann Hopkins, Hollins class of 1965 earned an M.A. in mathematics from Indiana University, taught at Hollins for a year, and then joined IBM, where she helped launch scientific and weather satellites and learned how to manage projects. While doing management consulting for Big Eight accounting firms, she encountered a number of anachronistic policies and practices.
