Q&A with the Author, Elizabeth Seydel Morgan '60

Elizabeth Seydel Morgan, a 1960 graduate of Hollins, served as the Louis D. Rubin, Jr. Writer-in-Residence in 2007. Her latest book is <em>Spans: New and Selected Poems</em>. She is the author of several other books of poetry, including <em>Parties</em>, <em>The Governor of Desire</em>, <em>On Long Mountain</em>, and <em>Without a Philosophy</em>. Her poems have appeared in various anthologies, including the Library of Congress’ website Poetry 180, and in periodicals such as <em>Shenandoah</em>, <em>Southern Review,</em> and <em>Poetry</em>. She has earned numerous awards and recognitions, including the Carole Weinstein Prize in Poetry, the Emily Clark Balch Award from <em>Virginia Quarterly Review</em>, and a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities.
