Author and journalist Beth Macy’s new book is <em>Factory Man: How One Furniture Maker Battled Offshoring, Stayed Local – and Helped Save an American Town</em> (2014). <em>The New York Times</em> called <em>Factory Man</em> “an illuminating, deeply patriotic David vs. Goliath book.” Pulitzer Prize-winning author Rick Bragg described it as “a damn fine story to read,” while another Pulitzer winner, Alex S. Jones, said, “Beth Macy has given us an inspiring and engaging tale for our times.” Her writing has won more than a dozen national journalism awards, including a Nieman Fellowship for Journalism at Harvard and the 2013 J. Anthony Lukas Work-in-Progress Award. She earned her master’s degree in creative writing from Hollins in 1993.
