Science Seminar Speaker: Linda Powers

With a broad scope of expertise from biochemistry to electrical engineering and considerable experience in hemeprotein catalysis, structural biology and the design and construction of optical and X-ray instrumentation for biomedical applications, Linda Powers has worked discovering life forms in extreme environments. She is author of over 100 peer-reviewed technical publications and several patents and is now developing technologies for rapid detection of microorganisms.
A competitive equestrian skilled in dressage and an outdoor enthusiast, Powers is looking forward to talking with Hollins faculty, students, and the Roanoke community and helping them to explore some nontraditional as well as traditional careers. Sponsored by The Secular Society.
