Art By Night: Meet the Artist Eric Standley
to
Taubman Museum of Art 110 Salem Avenue Southeast, Roanoke, Virginia
Join the Taubman Museum of Art for Art by Night the first Friday in June! This month features live music, art making, galleries open late, and an artist talk by Virginia Tech Associate Professor Eric Standley. Standley's site-specific installation, Daphne, is on view at the Taubman now through November 6. His work, comprised of intricate layers of laser-cut paper, achieve a complexity of space that expands the traditional use of the medium. Each layer of paper is drawn and cut individually. His compositions are determined consciously by removing material from each sheet of paper, and pre-visualizing the sum of the layers as line, color and space. Art By Night is 5-9 pm; Standley's talk is at 6:30 pm. Registration for the talk is requested but not required.
