DIY: Pattern Design for Textiles and Commercial Products
to
Taubman Museum of Art 110 Salem Avenue Southeast, Roanoke, Virginia
In this series of workshops participants will explore a variety of pattern making techniques using linear and object-based imagery. Inspired by motifs from around the world or from your own everyday life we will practice the principles and elements of design in our patterns. Through demonstrations, samples, class guided exercises and one-on-one tutorials each participant will create at least two patterns and translate them onto the commercial media of their choice. Participants will learn how to prepare an image for digital upload to a commercial site and will be given the option of creating wall paper, fabric and wrapping paper to be ordered from their own design account online. Once uploaded all final products will then be public and may be available for purchase by all the participants in the class as well as friends and family. Please note: participants will need a laptop computer. If you do not have one please notify the museum and one will be provided. Registration is available by phone at 540.342.5760 or online. Please see our website for complete details.
