More than just a few-mile trek, Walk to Defeat ALS® is to remember those who have lost their fight to ALS and bring hope to those currently battling this disease. The Walk to Defeat ALS® program also helps the Chapter to raise the much-needed funds to provide free services to people with ALS and their families as well as support the necessary research to find treatments and a cure. ALS (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease is a fatal disease affecting nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. The ALS Association – DC/MD/VA Chapter is celebrating 25 years of service to the ALS community. With your help, The ALS Association – DC/MD/VA Chapter can continue to provide these much-needed services as we support research and endlessly search for a cure.
