Whether brides are seeking a natural backdrop, a rustic atmosphere or an elegant setting for a wedding or reception, Vinton has it covered. Here are four wedding venues that each feature unique amenities.
The Woodland Place
Nestled near a quiet wooded area, The Woodland Place has hosted weddings – both indoors and out – for about a decade. Facility manager Dana Boyd says that here, couples can wed in a country-like setting, even though they are miles from the country.
The lawn at The Woodland Place features lush green grass, trees and flowers. Couples typically wed under a gazebo. White wooden chairs and an outdoor PA system are available for use.
Indoors, the main room – which holds 250 people – is furnished with tables and chairs covered in white linens; centerpieces are available for use. An elevated stage area is ideal for displaying a wedding cake, and the room is complete with a spacious dance floor. A DJ service is offered for an additional charge. The building has a small kitchen area and dressing room. It’s also pet-friendly, Boyd says, and she has hosted several weddings that included dogs.
“It’s nice to be able to make (the venue) look pretty for the brides,” Boyd says, “and to be part of their special day.”

Vinton War Memorial
The two-story Vinton War Memorial, built to honor those who served in World War II, opened to the public in 1948 and housed a library, kitchen, meeting rooms and ballroom. Following renovations in 2007, the facility’s Dogwood Ballroom now presents a timeless, sophisticated look for a wedding or reception. Outside, the 11.5-acre campus has three areas that serve as lush settings for ceremonies.
“Couples can take advantage of the romance of the entire campus,” says Kevin Kipp, facilities manager.
The Dogwood Ballroom features custom chandeliers with dogwood flowers, the original fireplace and hardwood floors. Numerous windows allow in plenty of natural light. And if an outdoor wedding is foiled by bad weather, the ballroom can easily serve as a backup spot for the ceremony.
For outdoor weddings, couples have the choice of using the expansive front lawn with the War Memorial building as the backdrop; a level area near the pool that is surrounded by trees and knolls, or a more private spot also dotted with trees.
The Library and Magnolia rooms are available for the wedding party to get ready or relax before the ceremony. Brides have the option to bring in a caterer of choice, or catering through Teaberry’s is also available. There is a nominal fee for kitchen use. The ballroom capacity is 240. Boxtree Lodge and Braeloch
Al Hammond has taken advantage of the natural wonderland on his 330-acre farm, creating gorgeous settings for weddings and receptions.
At Boxtree Lodge, once an eight-stall barn, couples celebrate their nuptials in the expansive main room, which comfortably holds 200 guests. A full kitchen is available for use. Ceremonies are typically held in the adjacent outdoor gazebo.
Braeloch – Scottish for lake on the hill – is a spacious multipurpose building featuring large windows and a deck overlooking a lake. Mountain views complete the picturesque backdrop. The facility will hold 2,500 people.
Hammond says the facilities are available for rent Friday afternoon through Sunday for weddings. Wedding parties are responsible for setting up and taking down the provided tables and chairs. All caterers, florists and other wedding vendors are welcome. Two cabins are ideal for out-of-town wedding guests.
“People make it their own here,” Hammond says, “and it’s always beautiful. Our goal is to provide a reasonable place for weddings that is a good value for brides.”
