It may be a small town, but Vinton has proved it’s a great place to have a business. Here, both small and large businesses are thriving, like Desert Sun, a tanning salon celebrating 25 years in 2013, or Vinton Appliance Center, which targets an affluent customer base.

And many Vinton businesses recently were recognized by a record number of voters for The Roanoker’s 2013 Best of Roanoke awards. So Vintonites aren’t the only ones taking notice of this hot spot for businesses. Here are the winners:

• Vinton Roofing (Gold for Best Roofing Company)

• Field of Dreams (Silver for Best Dog Trainer)

13th Annual Four on the 4th Race Takes Place in Vinton
