Monday night Roanoke EMS Fire Station 5 transformed into an art gallery.
The winning works of art for the 11th Annual Fire Prevention Week Art Contest were on display for the students and their families. This year there were 55 entries and 15 winners, the students ranging from preschoolers to 12th grader.
Fire Chief David Hoback welcomed the students to the station before presenting their awards, which included two special categories: Fire Prevention Week Pick, and the Chief's Choice Award.
"I have the best job in the world to be able to come talk to and have dinner with all these young people," said Chief Hoback.
After the ceremony, firefighters served dinner to the students and their families. The meal was provided by Mission BBQ, Chick-fil-A and Domino's.
