The White house is finally complete. Out go the paint samples, cardboard boxes, and plastic wrappings, swapped for new hardware, double-sided fireplace, and of course, the beloved furniture.
It's hard to believe the construction work is finished. After several weeks of persistent hard work, the White family now has exactly what they wanted when they first started out searching for their dream home. The renovated 1960's ranch house is now their jewel box home.
Chris Yearsley, contractor for the project, recapped on the hard work. The major remodel focused on the kitchen and dining room, guest bath, and master suite. Before, the back rooms comprised of two smaller bedrooms. Yearsley and his team knocked out the middle wall to create one large master suite. That included adding beams into the ceiling (also known as a header) to prevent the ceiling (and possibly the attic) from caving in. The same process was done in the kitchen to open up the space into the dining room.
The guest bathroom was also redone with new shower, toilet, and sink. It was the master bath, however, that resulted in huge change, with double sinks, large tub, and standing shower with new doors and tiling.
The last piece of the puzzle is the double fireplace. The gorgeous woodwork we saw from St. Pierre's Woodworking and Sawmill in Floyd has been installed on either side as mantles (the third piece will go in the downstairs bar). The Whites have made this a gas fireplace and will purchase fire glass for a beautiful, finished look.
Yearsley returned for our final walk-through to see the end results. "I don't usually get to come back after it's done, to see it with furniture and everything set. It's really great to see it all in place and know the owners are happy with their new home."
See the before and after photos in our gallery above. The results are fantastic!
