Noah Fest 2
Last year, one kid made a huge difference with NoahFest. Noah Okuley, the young fighter who pulled together an entire community, beat his Stage 2B Hodgkins Lymphoma last year with the help of his friends and family, but he isn't forgetting and moving on. This year, they're going all out with an entire weekend schedule, including a Grammy winning performer, and the proceeds benefit eight other children with different types of cancer.
NoahFest2 promises to be bigger and better, with hopes to continue it each year with corporate sponsorships and donations.
See last year's gallery of NoahFest, including bands and donors from the Blue Ridge area. Participants enjoyed live music, rides, face-painting and more, including a silent auction that brought in over $7,000.
Here's their press release for more information. Feel free to contact Mike for any questions or ways to donate items or your time!
Noahfest held its first event in October of 2012. It was an all day music festival with ten musical acts, food and beverage vending and lots of activities for children that were all free. The event was so well received and supported by our community that we decided it needed to continue to help other children that were fighting similar battles.
Paying it forward was the best way for us to show our gratitude. This is why we have set up Noahfest LLC and have filed for registration as a bona-fide 501c3 non-profit organization. Currently our next event is scheduled for September 20-21, 2013 at the Sedalia Center in Bedford County Virginia.
Gates open at 4pm on Friday and a suggested donation of $15 per person 16 and up is requested. Kids 15 and under are free, we have on site camping ($10) and RV slots ($30), as well as lots of kids activities and food and beverage vendors.
Music will run all day on Saturday until 11pm with 3 acts scheduled for Friday and 9 on Saturday including Grammy winner, Alvin Youngblood Hart, and BIG Something from NC. We have identified 8 children (so far) in our region who are battling cancer and other life-threatening illnesses. We are securing donations and corporate sponsors to help with underwriting our festival expenses such as venue rental, event insurance and entertainment.
We are grateful for donations of any amount that you or your organization would assist us with! Please visit www.noahfest.com to learn more about our event. Mike can be reached at 540-587-4144 or michael@okuleygroup.com
