Love comic books and superheroes? You're in luck! This Saturday, August 17, 2013, Roanoke Doesn’t Suck (aka “Things In Roanoke That Don’t Suck” on Facebook) will be hosting the 3rd Annual Geek Mob!: International Read Comics in Public Day.
This year, they are partnering with the O. Winston Link Museum, who will display a special collection of photographs by Gregg Segal entitled “Super Heroes at Home." These photos pair with a movie titled: “Confessions of a Superhero,” which will also be featured during this event.
Upstairs in the lobby and on the front port will be the following (this area is FREE to the Public):
- Face Painting
- Super Hero Cartoons
- Crafts with the History Museum
- Live Music: Levi’s Gene Pool
- Geeky Vendors
- Costume Contests
- Food Vendors
- Comic Book Drive (benefiting Blue Ridge Autism and Achievement Center; Salem Public Library and Catawba Hospital Patients)
- Quiet Reading Area
Downstairs in the gallery and theatre areas will be the following:
- Magician: Bone Daddy
- Puppets in Performance
- Gallery showing (photos by Gregg Segal)
- Film Screening: “Confessions of a Superhero”
- Live Music: Another Roadside Attraction
- Free Chair Massages
This area is not FREE, but the admission is discounted to $3.00 (or $2.00 with a canned food donation to benefit Southwest Virginia Second Harvest Food Bank).
