Pet's Name: Forest
Owners: Sharron Hearne, Salem
Breed: Schnauzer
Age: 14 years, 11 months
Gender: Male
Gets his/her shots and pet care at: Hanging Rock Animal Hospital
Your Pet's Story: Almost 15 years ago we met a very small black Schnauzer and fell in love! We had never had a dog inside since both of us grew up on small farms and animals were always outside. We love our Forest and never realized we would have him this long! He only has one kidney and we thought his life would be shortened by this. When we first got him he went on his first road trip with us to Birmingham to visit my Mom and Dad. My dad called him a "dust mop" with his little black beard. Little did we know that 3 short months later my Dad would fall, hit his head and leave us for Heaven. That makes Forest even more special to us since he is our last tie to my Dad!
Favorite Place to Play: He love our back yard since it is full of squirrels. He loves to chase them even in his old age! Last year he put a possum down in our back yard!
Favorite Treat: Cheerios - yep Cheerios the human kind. He will beg for them all day long!
Favorite Toy: A flattened squirrel dog toy. He can find the squeaker in any toy in 3 seconds and stay on it forever!
Best Trick: Forest can still pirouette with the best of them! He also rolls over, will sit and stay on command as well as shake your hand!
Best Advice for Pet Owners: Love them and enjoy them while you can! They are special and are part of the family!
Pet's Name: Cookie
Owner: Linda Padgett, Salem
Breed: Border Collie
Age: I'm 7, but my humans say I still act like I'm 2.
Gender: Female
Gets his/her shots and pet care at: My humans take me to another human, they call Dr. DeRolf. He gives me shots, listens to my heart and looks in my ears. I don't like getting shots, but I like him. He talks to me and gives me treats.
Your Pet's Story: I love my humans. They kiss me a lot and give me good food and water. I have lots of human friends that visit me and 2 cat friends that live with me and my humans. One of my cat friends will play with me, but the other one doesn't like me for some reason.
Favorite Place to Play: I love to play in my backyard with my toys. My humans throw my toy's and I chase them. I also like to ride in my humans car to the bank. I like the humans at the bank. They give me treats.
Favorite Treat: My favorite treat is peanut butter. Sometimes my humans will give me some peanut butter on one of their plates to eat. It's very good.
Favorite Toy: I love my squeaky toys, but I never chew the squeaky out of them. I take care of my toy's. And, I love playing with balls. If I could count, I would say I have 50 toys at my humans house and they get me a new toy every time they go shopping.
Best Trick: When I want to go outside, I ring a bell that is hanging on a string on my humans backdoor. I also talk to my humans about 15 minutes, when they come home from work. I can also, roll a ball with my nose to my humans. Sometimes, I lay on my back and hold my toy with my two front paws, just to see how long I can hold it. I can also shake paws with my humans, but I think they call it shaking hands.
Best Advice for Pet Owners: Always feed us good food, give us lots of fresh water to drink, play with us, take us to the doctor so we will stay healthy and give us lots of kisses.
