Grape Nut Pudding Recipe

Ingredients

  • 4 eggs
  • Approx. 3 to 4 cans evaporated milk
  • Approx ¾ cup of sugar
  • Lemon & Vanilla flavoring
  • Grape Nuts cereal

Instructions

  1. Beat eggs well, adding sugar, then the milk filling the bowl nearly to the top. Add 1 ½ tsp. Lemon and 1 tsp. Vanilla. Approx. ½ cup Grape Nuts to top of mixture. Some will go to the bottom and some will stay on the top when baked. Put bowl with mixture into a pan of water to bake on 350 degrees (I use my black iron skillet).

Quick Notes

“This was a recipe handed down without being written down, so that’s the reason for the approximate amounts. My Aunt Cora from Montgomery County, always made this dessert for us when I was growing up. Mother used to make it all the time too. I have been told that I’m the only cousin who knows how to make this pudding. It’s really a very simple and very good custard pudding. I use an old bowl that was given to me years ago to make it in, but about a 4 quart Pyrex dish will do also.”
