Pet's Name: Bailey
Owners: Ken & Carrol Wood, Roanoke County
Breed: Yorkie-poo
Age: 10.5 years
Gender: Male
Gets his/her shots and pet care at: Cave Spring Vet Clinic
Bailey's Story: Bailey is a smart, loveable Yorkie-poo who thinks he's a person. He is diabetic and lost his eyesight a couple of years ago, but he has adapted beautifully and nothing stands in his way. He navigates our porch and finds his doggie door without problems. On walks he trusts us to not let him run into anything. He manages new places by "marking his territory" but a rain shower does mess things up a bit. He is most famous for winning an office March Madness tournament several years ago and came in 3rd this year. He chooses his teams using his special treat toy, which now has veggies in it instead of dog treats.
Favorite Place to Play: Our backyard and the beach. At the dog park he sits on the bench with the people and watches the other dogs.
Favorite Treat: Raw cauliflower
Favorite Toy: A stuffed monkey.
Best Trick: Rolling over and playing March Madness.
Ken & Carrol's Best Advice for Pet Owners: Love them.
Pet's Name: Molly
Owner: ReenaEary, Elliston
Breed: Hound/Lab
Age: 6
Gender: Female
Gets his/her shots and pet care at: Botetourt Vet Clinic
Molly's Story: Molly came to us as a 6 month old puppy. My husband, Drew was tent camping with a couple of friends at Camp Bethel during the summer. He woke up to two puppies in their tent looking for food. Drew found a house near the camp and asked an older man if he knew where the puppies came from. The guy said they he'd been feeding them but lives on limited income and can't keep it up. Drew decided he would take one of the puppies and his friend took the other puppy. Since then she's been part of our family. The sweetest, gentlest dog I've ever had the chance to know.
Favorite Place to Play: Green Hill Park
Favorite Treat: Anything and everything. One mention of the word food and she will do a dance.
Favorite Toy: Chewing on Atlas our golden.
Best Trick: I hold a treat in the air and say UP and she jumps and grabs it out of my hand.
Reena's Best Advice for Pet Owners: Patience! Love!
Pet's Name: Boodreaux
Owner: Scott Sagnette, Roanoke County
Breed: Bob Tail
Age: 5
Gender: Male
Gets his/her shots and pet care at: Veterinarians For Cats (Rt. 419)
Your Pet's Story: Was crying on my doorstep on a freezing January night 3 years ago and has never left. The photo is of Boodreaux "hiding" in my suitcase curled up. He could sense I was leaving for a trip and wanted to go.
Favorite Place to Play: Indoors: living room. Outdoors: parking lot
Favorite Treat: Temptations (various flavors).
Favorite Toy: Catnip mouse, chases it under the chest of drawers and crawls under to retrieve it.
Best Trick: Runs / jogs with me (no leash) around the neighborhood. If I stop to look behind me he stops and looks behind him (as if he is mocking me).
Scott's Best Advice for Pet Owners: Exercise with your pet, talk to your pet.
