An abundance of trees, access to walking and biking trails, great views and modest commute times to work or shopping define the neighborhoods of the Roanoke region. Where someone chooses to live in this area, made up of an area encompassing Roanoke city and county, Salem, Vinton, and parts of Botetourt and Franklin counties, depends upon personal choice.
