Chateau Morrisette winery is going all outdoorsy June 4-6 for its annual Mountain Adventure Weekend. Festivities begin Friday with a wine-tasting reception.
Based at the winery’s Blue Ridge Parkway location, the weekend is dedicated to outdoorsy fun, nature, mountain vistas, great food and, of course, bold wines. Activities include horseback riding, skeet shooting, trail running and kayaking. Falconry and fly fishing demos may be on the docket too.
Runners can compete in Saturday’s Vine Wind 5k, a run over groomed vineyard trails. The race benefits the Floyd County Humane Society, whose adoptable animals will be visiting the winery on Saturday.
The Chateau Restaurant will offer a special wild-game menu with fare such as quail and buffalo, as well as wine tastings on Saturday and Sunday. Landscape artists will be working at easels on the grounds, participating in the winery’s concurrent plein air art weekend.
Activities are à la carte—pay for only the adventures you reserve. Reservations and prepayment are required at 540-593-2865. For overnighters, Chateau Morrisette offers lodging/wining/dining packages with 25 different accommodation options, from cabins to Hotel Floyd to elegant B&Bs.
