Mommy Me Time

Our Associate Editor Jessica is a brand new mommy to baby Sydney! It’s hard for any mom to find “me time” but we think they all deserve a much-needed break sometimes!

Ask most moms and they’ll tell you there is not enough time in the day to get things done. As the mother of a five-month-old, I’ve learned this pretty quickly. But I’m only beginning to realize that really, I don’t HAVE to get everything accomplished in one day that I think I do. And I also need to take some time for myself every now and then.

So leaving the hubby at home with the baby, I ventured to Plaza 101 Salon and Spa for a little pampering. A special thanks to three awesome co-workers for the gift of a manicure and pedicure at my office baby shower! I’m just sorry it took me this long to take advantage of it.

Robin at Plaza 101 took great care of me. With my feet soaking in warm, soapy water, I relax with a good magazine and a cup of sweet peach tea. A short while later, having received a good foot rub and nail treatment, my toes are sporting a sparkly purple polish. Now I just have my fingers crossed for a little more sandal weather so I can show them off!

I was hoping to have longer nails for Robin to work with for my manicure, but no such luck this time around. I worry – probably too much – about accidentally scratching the baby’s face, so I tend to sacrifice the nails. But Robin worked her magic, and my short nails are shapely and colorful for the first time in months.

Next time, I’ll go for the works and add a massage or facial into the mix (hint, hint to the hubby for a great Christmas present).
