Residents Come Together for Noah Fest 2012

NoahFest

Sometimes all it takes to bring a town together is a kid with a great attitude in the face of adversity.

When 13-year-old Noah Okuley was diagnosed with Stage 2B Hodgkins Lymphoma, he didn’t let it get him down. Neither did his dad Mike, who has spent the last few weeks putting together a huge event with most items, bands, and activities donated in support of Noah’s cause. Friends from far and near have come together to offer their donations to support a new event called Noah Fest and it sounds like it’ll be taking over Bedford County on October 20th.

Here’s the official information on this fantastic event that will hopefully continue in the future to help other children in their fight against cancer:

On September 6th, 2012, Noah Okuley went to the UVA hospital after getting a chest x-ray. That evening he had his first of two biopsies and days later was diagnosed with Stage 2B Hodgkins Lymphoma. He has already begun a treatment regimen of chemo with radiation at UVA.  In response to the overwhelming support and encouragement, we have decided to throw a fundraising event on his behalf.

Come out and support NoahFest 2012…Noah Okuley Benefit Donation Fund at Wells Fargo…Account #1020479273 you can donate at any Wells Fargo Branch. 100% of all donations go directly towards the costs associated with his medical care and treatment. Thanks for all of your encouragement! On October 20th, Noah Fest 2012 will take place at Mountain Run Farm in Bedford County.

It is our hope that we will be able to raise money to help with the costs of Noah’s treatment, and also continue this event in the future to help other children in their fights against cancer and disease.

This is a family event and will take place from 12:00 noon until 11:00 pm. There will be activities for the kids, and food and beverage available for purchase. We have an outstanding lineup of music scheduled throughout the entire day and will also be holding a silent auction with items from all over!

The official music lineup for your listening pleasure: Bedrock P&W Band, Tobacco Apache, Plain & Simple (bluegrass), William Walter, Jacob Crawford, J.d. Wesley, The Tommy C Trio (blues), Welcome To Hoonah and The Dirt Road Travelers.

With cornhole, Frisbee golf, cotton candy, a bounce house for the kids, facepaint, Rock climbing wall, Orbitron, 9 musical acts, and a silent auction with over 75 items including, art, jewelry, weekends at OBX, Smith Mtn Lake, Hotel Roanoke, and dinner vouchers at your favorite places like Bedford Social Club, Clam Diggers Seafood LLC, Blue 5 Restaurant, this is sure to be a super fun event!

We ask that you please RSVP online so we can have adequate amounts of food and beverage available for everyone. You can also sign up to volunteer for Noah Fest! Keep up with the event and all the great things being added with their Noah Fest 2012 Event page! Thank you to everyone who has gotten involved and for those who plan to attend!
