We’re back in our fifth post of the House to Home series. After the Whites found their perfect 1960s ranch house to convert into their jewel box home, thanks to help from Marguerite and Frank Saunders of MKB Realtors, they learned about selecting products and avoiding unexpected expenses. The renovations continue as things are really coming together inside.
The puzzle pieces are coming together: now that the plumbing and wiring is set, drywall was put up. Chris Yearsley, Windfall Construction owner, has his team moving on to the next step of painting, tiling, grouting, and more.
“This is what everyone wants to see,” says Yearsley. “You don’t see the plumbing or wire work, but since you can actually see the work in the tile, it’s finally all coming together. You can see the light at the end of the tunnel.”
Yearsley took care on the wood floors, making sure the new additions matched the floor already there. If you look closely in photos, you can see he hand-drilled holes in the edges of the wood so that the new pieces would perfectly match and blend with the old ones.
The ceiling has been put up as well, complete with working lights. You can also see Yearsley’s careful handiwork with the tile in the house, especially in the bathrooms. Using the products selected by the Whites, he painstakingly cuts strips and glues each piece into place.
The fireplace, which will actually be doubled with one in the kitchen and the other in the living room, will go underway next week. Drywall will go up at the top, while the beautiful wood we saw from St. Pierre Woodworking and Sawmill (in blog post number 3) will go up for the mantel.
