The Lazy Baker: Cinnamon Sugar Pretzel Bites

Cinnamon sugar pretzel bites

I’m a big fan of fresh, soft pretzels, so when I found this recipe on Pinterest, I got so excited to make easy pretzel bites! They’re easy to make and taste just like those cinnamon sugar pretzels you get at Auntie Anne’s pretzels. Yum!

The best part about this recipe is that you can substitute the cinnamon sugar part for just about anything you like – regular sea salt and butter, maybe garlic and Parmesan or anything else your taste buds desire out of a pretzel.

(Note: The original recipe calls for biscuits and to quarter those into small balls. I used a roll of Pillsbury breadsticks dough; once I stretched them out, I cut them into 3 sections and rolled them up into small balls.)

  • Take a thawed roll. Cut it in four equal sections.
  • Place dough bites on greased sheets.
  • Cover with plastic wrap that has been sprayed with non-stick cooking spray, and let dough rise until double in size. (about 35-45 minutes)
  • Bring a large pot of water to a gentle boil.  When dough has risen, plop about 10 pieces into the boiling water, tossing gently for about 45 seconds.
  • Remove with slotted spoon, and place bites on paper towels to drain slightly.
  • Move bites to greased baking sheets, and bake at 375 degrees for about 15 minutes or until done and golden brown.

Once they came out of the oven, I brushed all the bites with melted butter and sprinkled sea salt on top. Then I immediately put in the cinnamon sugar mixture and coated them, setting them aside to cool. You can also toss garlic powder and Parmesan cheese if you prefer savory over sweet.

Good luck not eating them all!
