The Wannabe Chef: Preacher Cookies

Preacher cookies. No-bake oatmeal cookies. Whatever you call them, this is definitely a recipe you can easily pull together if you need a quick dessert.

These cookies call for ingredients you most likely already have on hand. Just boil the butter, milk and sugar for three minutes, then pour over instant oatmeal, cocoa and peanut butter. Spoon the mixture onto wax paper in the form of cookies, let them cool and voila, a delicious treat for your unexpected company. Or for just when you need to satisfy your sweet tooth…

Preacher Cookies

  • 1 stick butter
  • 2 cups sugar
  • ½ cup milk
  • 2 cups oatmeal
  • 3 Tbl. peanut butter
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Mix the oatmeal and cocoa together and set aside.

Bring butter, sugar and milk to a boil. Boil for 3 minutes. Stir in peanut butter and vanilla. Pour over oatmeal and cocoa powder. Stir until well combined and mixture will hold some shape.

Put spoonfuls of the mixture onto wax paper. Allow cookies to cool completely.
