Angels of Assisi to Host First-Ever Summer Mega Adoption Event at Berglund Center

School is out, summer is here, and Angels of Assisi is inviting the community to kick off the season by finding a new best friend at its first-ever Summer Mega Adoption Event, taking place Saturday, June 27, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Berglund Center Special Events Center.

After years of success with its annual winter Mega Adoption Event, which has helped hundreds of pets find homes and brought animal welfare organizations together from across the region, Angels of Assisi is expanding the tradition with its first-ever Summer Edition. The free event will bring together 15 animal shelters and rescue organizations under one roof, giving families the opportunity to meet hundreds of adoptable animals in a single day.

Whether attendees have been dreaming of a playful puppy, cuddly kitten, laid-back cat, lovable dog, bunny, or another small companion, there’s a good chance their perfect match will be waiting for them at the Berglund Center.

In addition to adoptable animals, attendees can connect with local pet-focused businesses and service providers, including Dragon’s Tooth Dog Training, Wag N’ Wash, My Needful Things Today, The Well-Trained Dog & Pet Care, and Tailwaggers. New adopters can learn about training, pet supplies, enrichment, and other resources to help set their newest family member up for success.

“This event is a celebration of what can happen when animal welfare organizations come together with a shared goal,” said Gracie Boliek, Communications Manager at Angels of Assisi. “By bringing so many shelters and rescues together in one place, we’re creating more opportunities for pets to find homes and for families to find the companion that’s right for them. We hope to make this the biggest adoption event of the summer.”

Admission and parking are completely free, making it easy for families, animal lovers, and prospective adopters to spend the day meeting pets and supporting lifesaving efforts across the region. Participating organizations include Angels of Assisi, Bedford Humane Society, Franklin County Animal Shelter & Friends of Franklin County, Franklin County Humane Society, Friends of Bedford County Animal Shelter, Martinsville-Henry County SPCA, Pittsylvania Pet Center, Regional Center for Animal Care and Protection (RCACP), Roanoke SPCA, RVA Street Bunny Society, Salem Animal Shelter, Second Chance for Cats, SPCA of Pittsylvania County, and Star City Cat Rescue.
