Leisure Publishing is proud to announce another award-winning staff member! This past weekend, our Associate Art Director Caroline McKean was honored with the Silver ADDY Award for her editorial design for Roanoker Magazine’s July/August 2012 Crossfit cover article.

The National ADDY Awards program is the advertising industry’s largest and most representative creative competition, recognizing creative excellence in the art of advertising.

Sponsored by the AAF, the National ADDY Awards competition represents the broadest creative spirit of advertising by recognizing all forms of advertising; in all varieties of media; created by all sizes and types of entrants; and from all over the country. More than 50,000 total entries are entered and judged annually.

Entries are judged first at a local level through competitions organized by more than 200 ad clubs and organizations affiliated with the AAF. Winners at the local levels advance to the second level of judging in one of 14 district competitions.

“We’re very proud of Caroline and our talented young art team,” says owner and publisher Richard Wells. “She and art director Austin Clark are creating designs for THE ROANOKER, BLUE RIDGE COUNTRY, and our VIRGINIA IS FOR LOVERS publications that are modern and engaging.”

With this win, Caroline is eligible to enter her spread in the District ADDY judging. This was Caroline’s first ever entry and first ever win of her design career.

“I chose to enter the Crossfit article based on two factors: the strength of the photography, from Amy Nance Pearman, and how much I enjoyed designing the article,” says McKean. “It blended my passion for art and fitness and I think the outcome was eye-catching. I am delighted and encouraged by the silver ADDY win.”

You can read the full Crossfit article here.

The image also won Amy Nance Pearman a Silver ADDY in the Elements of Photography: Color Photography category.

Congratulations to Caroline for her hard work and great design eye! We’re lucky to have such wonderful staff working for our publications.
