Piety: Reverence for Pie

Bubblecake opened their newest sister shop, Piety, on Saturday, August 16th. Response was overwhelming, with a line out the door for the entire day.

“We even ran out of flour!” says Rachel, manager and pie baker at Piety.

Pies have been on owner Lisa Lusk’s brain for well over a year. After selling pies in Bubblecake to first gauge customer response, the employees were excited about the idea of a pie shop. When the space on the upper level of Towers mall was offered up to them, it seemed like everything lined up to make it happen.

From the moment I stepped in Piety, there was a line of people waiting to gaze at the display case. Sugary, creamy, just plain pretty pies, muffins, and more are available to customers on any given day – but you won’t find any cupcakes here.

On occasion, they sell two flavors of cupcake, encouraging customers to visit their sister store for that particular dessert. Mostly, though, they sell their pies and pastries, plus lemonade and several tea options you can have in the store or take home with you to enjoy later.

“After naming it Piety, teas seemed perfect,” says Rachel. “No one else does that around here and we’re excited about offering this for our customers.”

The croissant donuts (temporarily nicknamed “Cronuts” but subject to change soon due to an already owned trademark) are easily their bestseller item, while the mini-pie leaving the store fastest goes to the classic caramel apple.

Whether you like your pie chocolatey or fruity, flavors like Oreo, Notorious P.I.E., Key Lime and Banana Cream are just a sampling of their lengthy menu choices. The personal-sized pies are a great way to do dessert, the rich fillings leaving every sweet tooth satisfied. There’s also the option to add ice cream for a la mode and biscuits are available on Saturdays.

Piety also sells medium and large pies in case you’re in need. Call in that special order though, because they’ll need some time to set up the pretty pie that’ll impress your guests.

To keep up with all things Piety, visit their website or become a fan of their Facebook page.
